Education helps students not just look good on tests; it is a critical part of their development into decision-making adults and wise members of society. As a tutor, I don't spend a lot of time with my students, but my goal is to use that time so they can develop better critical thinking skills and grow into self-actualized adults. My focuses are reading, writing, phonics, literature, grammar, and upper level composition. It is important to me to get to know my students as individuals, not just as people struggling in one or two subject areas. For that reason, I want to learn about their interests, hobbies, and lives. I think it is important to know the whole person I teach so that I can best support and motivate them while teaching them. I aim to help my students feel respected, valuable, and intelligent, which is why I hold high expectations for their achievement. I live in Columbus, Ohio, where I enjoy playing golf in my free time. I also like augmented reality, documentaries, and cultural history. I really like to travel when I have the chance.
